We are looking for a Senior QA Technician to join our talented and motivated team of professionals working on exciting new projects in the Total War universe at our studio in Horsham, West Sussex.You'll become part of a world-class development team working on a title in the award-winning Total War series. And you will be able to offer insights that drive the way our projects are shaped and directly influence our players’ gaming experience.
Key Responsibilities A Senior QA Technician is an exemplary and technical QA technician who has proven testing experience and in-depth understanding of game systems and development processes. They are able to interrogate game systems using debug tools and automation to find a wide variety of bugs.   As a Senior QA Technician, you will be expected to work autonomously in an Agile environment to build relationships and generate tasks working across multiple projects. You will be expected to assess priorities and balance requests across the franchise while keeping stakeholders informed. You will be expected to work with external test teams to provide test plans, training and guidance on how to best test for the area or features you have been assigned.    On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Assure the Quality of a given area through the finding of bugs and effective communication.  
  • In depth technical testing of specific functionality within an assigned area. 
  • Work autonomously towards set objectives with minimal supervision required. 
  • Work closely with discipline leads to provide them with relevant and accurate data driven test results where applicable. 
  • Provide regular reports regarding status of assigned area to your lead and other stakeholders. 
  • Work as part of an Agile team to build relationships, share knowledge and generate tasks as part of wider sprint and PI goals.
  • Show strong knowledge of and ability to test a broad range of in game systems, the tool set used to create TW games and digital distribution platforms.
  • Use automation including automated testing scripts to help find defects and generate data for analysis and work with automation team members to suggest improvements to our automated testing systems.
  • Test outside of the game within game databases and documentation to discover defects before they are implemented into the general game build. 
  • Work on projects across the franchise and be able to balance priorities with assistance from your lead.
  • Provide structured test plans and training to enable third party testers to test effectively. 

 Knowledge, Skill and Experience Essential

  • 3+ years in QA preferably at a game's development studio or full experience of software development lifecycle from production to post-release support.
  • Affinity for strategy games on various platforms
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment
  • Ability to self-manage and generate tasks to drive testing in an area
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Proficient time management and organisational skills, able to handle multiple tasks and meet set deadlines and priorities

 Desirable 

  • Strong knowledge of Total War games 
  • A university degree in a relevant field that can be applied to Games Testing
  • Experience in Test automation
  • Experience testing across multiple platforms
  • Experience with tools testing
